Soapstone 5 ½"x 6"x 4 ½" 09/17/2005
This soapstone has an array of different colors. When I looked at this greenish rock I wanted to carve a bears head but I did not know what else was going to be carved. My husband Dwayne suggested that I think about carving a salmon since I wanted to carve a bear hunting for fish on the back of the heads. I was thrilled with the colors that this soapstone offered. It gave such a wonderful contrast from the bear's head.
